The dragon motif is frequently featured in Chinese silk embroidery, particularly on traditional garments like robes and textiles. Intricate dragon designs are painstakingly created with colorful threads, and these textiles are highly regarded for their beauty and craftsmanship.
In Chinese mythology, the dragon plays a crucial role in interceding with the Jade Emperor on behalf of the people. When prayers to the Jade Emperor for rain go unanswered, it is said that benevolent dragons scooped up water from the seas to pour out of their mouths as rain to provide for the crops of the people. For their defiance of the Jade Emperor, this myth suggests the dragons were trapped against the Earth and went on to form the four great rivers of China.
On the obverse of 2024 1 Kilo Silver Lunar Dragon Coins, you will find a depiction of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem. This design from Jody Clark has been enhanced with the inclusion of the 70-year date mark of the late monarch’s reign, 1952-2022.
The reverse side of 2024 Australian Silver Lunar Dragon Coins includes a depiction of the Chinese dragon in front-facing relief. Its body is coiled throughout the field with its head at the top as its open mouth spews forth water. This side includes both the micro–engraved security mark and the P125 mint mark.
