The Year of the Wood Snake occurs once every 60 years, as the 12–year animal cycle combines with the 5-element cycle. The most recent Wood Snake year was 1965, and the next will be in 2025. Wood Snake years are considered particularly auspicious, as the qualities of wood are thought to enhance the snake’s natural attributes.
All 2025 1 Kilo Australian Silver Lunar Snake Coins offered here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and arrive in individual plastic capsule. Like the other coins in this series, Perth Mint has an unlimited mintage for the 1 Kilo silver coin. This means that Perth will strike the coins up until the release of the next design in the series.
On the obverse of 2025 Australian Silver Lunar Snakes is the first-generation portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. Dan Thorne created this left-profile bust of Charles III in 2024 and it shows the monarch without a crown. The 2025 release marks the debut of Charles III in this series and makes him the first monarch other than Elizabeth II to grace Perth Mint Lunar Series coins.
The reverse side of the 2025 1 Kilo Silver Lunar Snake Coin comes with an image of a coiled snake. This design shows the snake in the foreground with overhanging branches and leaves above its head. In the background, a jungle setting is featured with a river running off into the distance toward mountains in the jungle.
