The Queen’s Beast Series started in 2016 with the most important and prominent of all the heraldic beasts in England: The Lion of England. The lone coin issued in 2016, the Lion of England was first in the series just as it was first in the history of England.
When King Richard I, known as Richard the Lionheart in the pages of the history books, was reigning as the second Plantagenet King of England, he often carried a shield in battle with a rampant lion on it. Over time, he featured a design that became known as the Three Lions for its use of three lions stacked vertically. This Three Lions design would go on to become the first-ever Royal Arms of England.
Queen Elizabeth II features alone on the obverse of 2021 British Silver Queen’s Beast Collection Coins. This is the fifth-generation effigy of Her Majesty to feature on British coins and was designed in 2015 by Jody Clark.
Her Majesty features again on the reverse of the coins. Her portrait is shown in smaller relief this time, with a ring around her depicting each of the 10 heraldic beasts that featured in releases across the history of this series.
These 2021 1 Kilo British Silver Queen’s Beast Collection Coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The new 1 Kilo option is available individually in a plastic capsule or in a Monster Box for multiples of 6 coins. The 1 kilo option was previously limited to the proof release in this series and makes its debut as a BU specimen for the concluding Queen’s Beast Collection design.
