These 2023 1 Kilo Proof St. Helena Una and the Lion Coins are considered proof-strikes. During production, they were struck with carefully polished dies, which gives them a mirrored and frosty aesthetic. Packaging for this release includes a display case, a storytelling booklet, and a Certificate of Authenticity.

On the obverse of 2023 1 Kilo St. Helena Silver Una and the Lion Coins King Charles III is featured. This effigy presents the King in left-profile relief. It was designed by Glyn Davies, whose initials appear just below the engraving. The obverse also bears inscriptions of the Royal title along with the denomination and issuing nation.

The reverse of 2023 1 Kilo Proof St. Helena Silver Coins features Una and her lion side by side. The design also features an array of vines, a glimmering sun, and a decorative edge pattern. Inscriptions are included as well that read 2023, Una and the Lion.

The Una and the Lion collection is inspired by two iconic touchstones of English culture. The first is Edmund Spenser’s classic 1590 poem The Faerie Queene, which introduces the princess Una and her lion. The second is a coin design from 1839 by William Wyon featuring Una and the lion. This Five Pound British gold piece was originally minted in honor of Queen Victoria’s reign and today is considered one of Britain’s most treasured coins.
