Silver Eagles from the United States Mint debuted in 1986 as both bullion and proof coins. The Silver Eagle is available only as a 1 oz coin, with the bullion coin issued in every year since 1986. The Proof Silver Eagle has been available every year since 1986, with the exception of the 2009 issue year when proof coinage was suspended by the US Mint.
