In the reverse design of the 2025 Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coin, the mint features a detailed rendering of the HMS Bounty. Originally christened the Bethia, the ship was renamed upon its acquisition by the Royal Navy. Measuring just 91 feet, the vessel epitomizes the small merchant ships of the late 18th century.

Following the mutiny on the Bounty, Bligh, along with 18 loyal crew members, was given minimal provisions including water, bread, rum, a sextant, and a compass. This decision would later prove remarkable, as Bligh successfully navigated the overcrowded launch on a 47-day, 3,618-nautical-mile journey to Timor—one of the greatest feats of seamanship in maritime history.
