The Australian Silver Koala program’s 2007 launch included only a 1 oz silver coin. In 2008, the Perth Mint added these 1 Kilo coins to the series along with a 10 oz and 1/2 oz silver bullion coins. These continued to be the options in the series until 2016 when the Perth Mint shrunk the series down to just the 1 oz and 1 Kilo coins.
All of these 2020 1 Kilo Australian Silver Koala Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The Perth Mint offers each coin individually inside of protective acrylic capsules. The mint uses an unlimited mintage approach for the 1 Kilo version of the Silver Koala. This means the mint will produce the coins to match orders through the end of the 2020 calendar year. For example, the 2018 1 Kilo Koalas sold a total of 16,093 units.
On the reverse of 2020 Australian Silver Koala Coins is a new design for the Silver Koala coin from Ing Ing Jong. This year’s imagery includes a koala climbing up the branch of a tree with its long claws grabbing into the branch as it climbs upward.
The obverse of 2020 1 Kilo Australian Silver Koala Coins features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted here in the sixth–generation design on Australian coins and it comes from Jody Clark. It depicts the Queen wearing the Royal Diadem crown, earrings, and the Victorian coronation necklace.
